Ductwork Leakage Testing

This type of testing is utilized to measure the air tightness of a building envelope in order to locate areas of exterior air infiltration and to improve energy efficiency in the home.

A blower-door is utilized to depressurize the building interior and calculate the amount of air leakage in the building envelope. This information can be used to determine the amount of air-sealing that can be improved and still allow for the minimum ventilation requirement for the home occupants.

A test is done on HVAC ductwork with a duct-blaster fan to determine the amount of air leakage in the ductwork. Most townships now require air leakage testing on HVAC ductwork installed during new construction. This testing can also be done for homeowners who are looking to improve the efficiency of their HVAC system.
